When does a woman ovulate after having baby if breastfeeding?
Breastfeeding suppresses the release of hormones needed for ovulation to occur. Most frequently, ovulation will not return until after breastfeeding has stopped. Therefore, a woman will probably not ovulate until her postpartum period ends, regardless of how soon the menstrual periods resume. However, some women do experience ovulation while breastfeeding, sometimes as early as 2 weeks after having a baby. So it is important for breastfeeding women to practice a method of birth control to prevent an unplanned pregnancy.
