Can a pregnant woman go swimming with 1 month year old baby in her belly?
Swimming during pregnancy can be an excellent form of exercise, as it provides cardiovascular benefits, helps reduce swelling and can be a lot of fun, however, it is generally not recommended for pregnant women to swim in natural bodies of water, such as lakes, rivers or the ocean, during their first trimester (the first 12 weeks of pregnancy) due to the risk of contracting infections. This is because the cervix is slightly open during pregnancy, making it easier for bacteria to enter the uterus and cause an infection. Additionally, the risk of miscarriage is highest during the first trimester, and swimming in natural bodies of water may increase this risk.
Chlorinated pools are generally considered safe for pregnant women to swim in, as the chlorine helps kill bacteria and other microorganisms that can cause infections. However, it is important to note that some chemicals used to treat swimming pools, such as trichloramine, can cause eye and skin irritation, and may be harmful to pregnant women.
It is always a good idea to talk to your healthcare provider before starting or continuing any new exercise program during pregnancy, including swimming. Your provider can advise you on what activities are safe and appropriate for you and your baby.
