Are unexcused absences excused if your pregnant?

Unexcused absences are not excused, regardless of the reason for the absence. If an employee is pregnant and needs to miss work due to pregnancy-related complications, they may be eligible for pregnancy leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). FMLA leave is unpaid, but it does allow employees to take up to 12 weeks of leave for pregnancy-related reasons. During FMLA leave, employees are entitled to continue their health insurance coverage and to return to their jobs after their leave is over.
