Can you have a baby before your periods?
It is not possible to get pregnant before your first period. Pregnancy occurs when a sperm cell fertilizes an egg cell. For this to happen, the egg must be released from the ovary (ovulation) and travel down the fallopian tube. The sperm cells must swim up the fallopian tube and reach the egg before it is fertilized.
Ovulation usually occurs 14 days before the start of your next period. So, if you have a 28-day cycle, you will ovulate on day 14. If you have sex on or around the day of ovulation, there is a chance that you could get pregnant.
However, it is important to note that it is also possible to get pregnant if you have sex in the days leading up to ovulation. This is because sperm cells can live inside the female reproductive tract for up to five days. So, if you have sex on day 10 of your cycle and ovulate on day 14, there is still a chance that you could get pregnant.
If you are not trying to get pregnant, it is important to use contraception every time you have sex. This will help to prevent pregnancy from occurring.
