Can a fertility test detect the pregnancy hormone hCG?

A fertility test, also known as an ovulation predictor kit (OPK), is designed to detect the luteinizing hormone (LH) surge in urine, which typically occurs 24-36 hours before ovulation. Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), the pregnancy hormone, is produced after an embryo implants in the uterus and is typically detected in the urine or blood about 10-14 days after ovulation. Therefore, a fertility test is not designed to detect hCG and cannot be used to determine pregnancy. Pregnancy tests are specifically designed to detect hCG levels and are used to confirm pregnancy.
