How to Troubleshoot a Proform 55 Crosstrainer

The Proform 55 Crosstrainer is a recumbent bicycle exercise machine. One feature that makes this particular model unique is the ability to lower the seat and use the unit as a weight bench or to assist with pre and post-workout stretching. While your cross trainer should be mostly maintenance-free, minor problems can occur. Most of these problems can be fixed at home without contacting a professional repairman. Instructions

  1. LED display doesn't light up.

    • 1

Check the LED console display to see if it's dim or completely dark. If it is, then you'll need to replace the batteries.

    • 2

Find the battery door located at the base of the LED console. Slide the battery compartment door off of the unit. It should pull off easily. No tool is necessary to complete this task.

    • 3

Remove the old batteries. Be sure to jot down the direction that each battery is facing.

    • 4

Insert 4-D batteries into the battery compartment. Make sure that they're facing the same direction as the old batteries that you removed in Step 3.

    • 5

Reattach the battery compartment door by sliding it into place. No tool is necessary to complete this task.

Fix the cross trainer if it doesn't sit evenly

    • 6

Check the cross trainer to see if it sits evenly on the floor. If it doesn't, your user experience will not be optimal while using the machine as a bicycle or weight lifting bench.

    • 7

Find the 2 front stabilizers. These are small legs attached to the front of the cross trainer that keep the machine balanced.

    • 8

Turn the right leg clockwise until the machine is completely balanced when in use. If you can't find the optimal setting, then twist the leg counterclockwise until the machine doesn't wobble anymore. No tools are necessary to complete this task.
