Vicerex Safety

Vicerex is a type of herbal supplement designed for male enhancement or treating erectile dysfunction. Despite the fact that its makers report that "there are no reported adverse effects" of the supplement, some of the herbs contained in Vicerex have the potential to cause side effects.
  1. Ingredients

    • The ingredients in Vicerex include tongkat ali, horny goat weed, tribulus terrestris, maca, ginkgo biloba and epimedium grandiflorum, according to the supplement's official website.

    Side Effects

    • Tribulus terrestris has the potential to cause increased sensitivity to the sun, which has the potential to cause severe sunburns, according to the Physicians' Desktop Reference. Some patients who take ginkgo biloba develop stomach upset, headache, dizziness, constipation and a forceful heartbeat, explains RxList.

    Drug Interactions

    • When taken with prescription blood thinning medications like warfarin, both horny goat weed and ginkgo biloba pose a risk for severe or uncontrollable bleeding following an injury, surgery or dental work.

    Risks

    • Ginkgo biloba poses a risk for sudden hemorrhages in the brain or eyes, cautions RxList. Both ginkgo biloba and tribulus terrestris cause severe allergic reactions in some patients.

    Considerations

    • The makers of Vicerex report that women can take the supplement for extra energy, but the herbs it contains are not safe for use while pregnant or nursing, warns the Physicians' Desktop Reference and RxList. If you have a history of hypotension, seizures or bleeding problems, it also may not be safe for you to take the herbs contained in Vicerex.
