Itch Relief for Swollen Testicles
There are several different reasons for swollen testicles; including swelling is caused by surgery, injury or an insect bite. This condition can be painful, annoying and uncomfortable as you may feel the need to constantly scratch in an attempt to get relief. This may result in soreness around the testicle area, adding to the discomfort. There are several different things you can try to relieve the itching until the swelling goes down.-
Oatmeal Bath
-
Soak in an oatmeal bath to help relieve the itching caused by swollen testicles. Fill a bathtub and add three or four cups of plain oatmeal to the mix. Soak for 20 to 30 minutes--this will relieve the itching. Do this two times a day, for as long as the itching is a problem.
Anti-Itch Powder
-
Several companies now make an anti-itch powder that is available over-the-counter. Apply the powder directly to the testicles several times a day to relieve the itching. The powder is medicated to treat the itching directly, and it will also absorb excess moisture.
Cold Compress
-
This method is a bit uncomfortable, but very effective. It will reduce the swelling in the testicles, and thereby reduce the itch. Apply a cold compress wrapped in a towel or over your clothes--do not apply it directly to the skin, because the extreme cold is harmful to your testicles. Sperm is sensitive to temperature fluctuation, so do not allow the testicles to become too cold for too long.
Combine Methods
-
You may need to utilize several of these methods in conjunction with one another to find the combination that works best to relieve the itch brought on by your swollen testicles. If you are unsure of the reason for the swelling in your testicles, or if the swelling lasts more than a day, contact your health care provider to rule out an underlying health condition.
