Do men have a phase of life equivalent to menopause?
While men do not have an exact equivalent to menopause, they do experience a gradual decline in testosterone production as they age, which is sometimes referred to as andropause or male menopause. This decline in testosterone levels can lead to a variety of physical and emotional changes, including:
- Decreased sex drive
- Erectile dysfunction
- Reduced fertility
- Loss of muscle mass
- Increased body fat
- Hot flashes
- Mood swings
- Fatigue
- Difficulty concentrating
These changes can vary greatly from man to man, and some men may not experience any noticeable symptoms at all. While there is no cure for andropause, there are treatments available to help manage the symptoms, such as testosterone replacement therapy.
