Ways to Increase Your Load Volume

If you are trying to conceive, you might be dealing with fertility issues that are making it difficult for your partner or spouse to get pregnant. Male factor infertility is due to the health and production of sperm, including the semen volume, sperm count, motility and morphology. Environmental factors, diet, weight and lifestyle choices all make an impact on your load volume and sperm production.
  1. Eat Right

    • Eating the proper foods makes a big difference in the quality of your sperm and semen volume. Choose fruits and vegetables high in antioxidants as well as whole grains, nuts and seeds. Limit the amount of fat and empty calories you put in your body.

Keep hydrated by drinking at least 64 oz. of water a day as well as other hydrating beverages such as sports drinks. To increase your hydration, drink as much as half your body weight in ounces of water a day. For example, if you weigh 200 lbs., drink 100 oz. of water each day.

    Maintain A Healthy Weight

    • Increase your semen volume by maintaining a healthy weight with the proper nutrition and exercise. Excess body fat can deplete your sperm count and cause abnormal sperm. Exercise is also important in the production of healthy sperm, but don't exercise to exhaustion, cautions MayoClinic.com, because a temporary drop in hormone levels could impair sperm quality.

    Keep Cool

    • Limit your time spent in bathtubs, hot tubs or saunas. Remaining in a temperature above 104 Fahrenheit for more than 30 minutes can decrease your sperm count and volume. Keep your testicles cool throughout the day by opting for boxers instead of briefs and skipping activities that will cause too much heat, such as riding a bike or sitting with a laptop on your lap for long periods of time.

    Limit Alcohol Intake

    • For optimum fertility, limit the amount of alcohol you consume. If quitting drinking alcohol beverages is not an option, limit the intake to no more than two or three drinks a day. Excessive alcohol drinking has been linked to decreasing not only semen volume, but also sperm count and motility.

    Avoid Tobacco and Illicit Drugs

    • Alcohol, marijuana and other drugs all have been proven to have a negative affect on your sperm production. Not only are they unhealthy for you as a whole, but they also can decrease the amount of semen volume and healthy sperm you produce. Ask your doctor for help to quit smoking, and receive help for stopping any recreational drug use.
