How to Tie Posey Vests to a Tall Chair
A Posey vest is a medical restraint, used to hold patients upright, while giving them the freedom to move their arms and legs. This type of restraint protects the patient from falling out of their bed or chair during medical treatments. Proper placement of the vest is crucial, to prevent the patient from choking to death.Instructions

1
Pull the Posey vest over the patient's head and slide the patient's arms through the openings on the side. Place the vest on with the "V" shape in the front.
-
2
Crisscross the straps and thread them through the open slots in the front of the vest.
-
3
Tighten the straps over the patient's hips at a 45 degree angle -- and pull the straps underneath the back of the seat -- so the patient cannot reach them.
-
4
Pull the strap snugly around the back of the chair post -- crisscross it and twist -- before securing it.
-
5
Slide your open hand between the vest and your patient, to insure that it is not too tight. You do not want to constrict their breathing. Double check the position of your patient, to ensure that they cannot slide out of the chair.
