Lawrence University is in Appleton, one of the communities of Fox Cities. Lawrence is a four-year university in liberal arts and is also a music conservatory. Director Karen Bruno sites two programs as being very popular among the senior citizens of Fox Cities. The music conservatory's academy of music offers class for adults of all ages who have always wanted to learn a musical instrument but never got the chance. Lawrence offers group piano lessons, and also something called New Horizons Music--for music novices who want to play in a band or orchestra.
In addition, Lawrence University sponsors several outings to the opera in Milwaukee each year. Cost of the Lawrence opera outings includes preview classes of the operas to be performed at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts in Milwaukee, tickets to the opera and round trip transportation on coach bus.
