    • The Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association provides continuing education for professionals working in substance abuse prevention and treatment. Courses available include substance abuse and domestic violence, therapies for substance abuse, dual addictive disorders, prevention principles, and strategies and substance abuse treatment with criminal offenders. Courses are available online, and students can e-mail coursework and exams to practitioners. The Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association represents over 100 communities in the sate and has over 1,000 individual members

    Safe Driver

    • Before a person can apply for their license in the state of Florida, teenagers and adults must pass the Drug Alcohol Traffic Awareness course. This 4-hour course can be completed online and allows individuals to log on and off as many times as needed. Students in the course learn how alcohol and other drugs affect a person's ability to drive, awareness while driving and safe driving techniques. The course also teaches students the laws and ramifications of driving under the influence.

    University of South Florida

    • The University of South Florida offers a graduate certificate program in addictions and substance abuse counseling that offers drug and alcohol courses. The program is for human service professionals who are interested in having a career in this field. In addition to completing courses, students must also participate in seminars and a practicum at a local counseling facility. Credits from the degree can be transferred into a graduate program for those who want to continue their education.
