1
Begin a stretching routine. Join a yoga or Pilates class at a gym, or buy DVDs to practice at home. This can increase your height by lengthening the spine as well as your muscles. Stretching in practices such as yoga and Pilates is not only good for your mental and physical fitness but also a good way to lengthen the muscles and improve posture. For specific stretches you can do at home, see the Resources section below.

Take care of yourself. Combine a healthful diet with frequent exercise if you want to grow taller. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, avoid sugary and salty snacks such as candy and potato chips and drink at least eight cups of water a day. Make sure you get enough exercise: 30 minutes at a time at least five days a week. You also need to get a good night's sleep. While you sleep, your body is recharging and getting the rest it needs to function properly.

Sit up straighter. Sitting up straight will improve your posture and make you appear taller. During your teenage years, your body is changing all the time. Sitting up straight can offset curvature of the spine and give the appearance of more height.

Talk with a doctor about hormone injections. This is the most expensive option and it is not a decision that should be taken lightly. Before opting for these shots, you should do considerable research and talk with your parents and physician about the issue. The results of these shots are permanent and can increase your height up to 5 inches. Remember, though, you are still growing naturally, so this should be your last resort. Vitamins and nutritional supplements aimed at growth may be more affordable and safer options. Look for these in a drugstore or health food store.
