How to Use a Pedometer in PE Class
A person's daily step count should be 10,000 steps. A good place to rack up those steps is during PE class, since these classes often have students walking or running around a field for exercise. Other PE activities can include games of kickball or softball, which have students running quite a lot. To see just how many steps a student has taken, he should wear a pedometer.Instructions

1
Attach the pedometer to the waistband of your gym shorts on either one of your hips. The pedometer should be placed between your hip and the middle of the front part of your thigh. Avoid attaching it to the pocket of your shorts, as this will give an inaccurate step count.
-
2
Attach the pedometer in an upright position. The steps you take during PE class won't register correctly if the pedometer is tilted too much.
-
3
Wear the pedometer on the same hip every time you put it on. Everyone has one leg that is slightly longer than the other, and even the slightest difference can register a wrong step count.

4
Check the pedometer for accuracy. Reset the pedometer, and take 50 steps. Check the pedometer's reading. The step count should read between 48 and 52 steps to be accurate. If the number is higher or lower, move the pedometer either closer to your hip or farther from your hip. Repeat the process until your step count is in the range of 48 and 52. Many pedometers also have built-in stride adjustments to make sure the count is accurate.

Attach the safety strap of the pedometer to the waistband of your gym shorts, if applicable. Usually pedometers come with a safety strap so they won't get lost if they fall off.

Take part in your PE class as you normally would, then check the results once class is finished.
