Teenage Skin Care Tips
-
Protect Your Skin
-
Use sunscreen while you are outside. This can keep your skin from aging early, since most of the sun's damage is done when you are young. Use a sunscreen that has at least a 15 SPF. As it keeps your skin from aging early, it also decreases your chance of getting skin cancer.
Don't Pick Pimples
-
No matter how strong the urge, never pick or pop a pimple. This can lead to scarring. If you have oily skin, do not use regular bars of soap on your face for cleansing. Use gel-based cleaners that you can find at your local pharmacy. Be sure it includes an ingredient called salicylic acid, which fights acne.
Clean & Moisturize
-
Even when you're tired at the end of the day, remove all your makeup before bed. Never sleep in your makeup. It clogs your pores and can cause acne. Once you have properly cleansed your face, apply an oil-free moisturizer (with an SPF of 15 or more), and rub it into your face before heading to bed. If you are one of those teens who suffer from oily skin, use the moisturizer in the morning only.
