What Can I Eat to Grow Taller?

Many people are shorter than they would like to be. While the majority of human body growth occurs before you're 30 years old, there are some foods that can be incorporated into your daily diet to help you achieve more height naturally. From eating nutrient-rich foods to avoiding foods that stunt growth, you can add inches to your height permanently.
  1. Calcium

    • Calcium-rich foods like dairy products such as milk, cheese and yogurt all work to increase bone strength and bone density. Consume two to four servings of calcium-rich products into your daily diet by having cereal and milk for breakfast, and snacking on cheeses and yogurt throughout the day.

    Vitamin D

    • Foods rich in Vitamin D will also increase height. These foods include most fish products (shrimp, cod, salmon, sardines), as well as milk products and dry breakfast cereals. Incorporate Vitamin D products into your diet as much as possible, preferably two to four servings each day. Within a few months you will begin to experience height growth.

    Protein

    • Proteins are also necessary for the body to grow. Lean cuts of meat, eggs, nuts and beans are all high in protein and should be consumed as much as possible when you're looking to grow taller. Within a few months of incorporating a high-protein diet into your daily routine, you will begin to experience height growth.

    Foods to Avoid

    • It is also important to avoid certain foods that will prevent the body from growing. Caffeine should be avoided altogether, as it is a main culprit in stunted growth. Avoid coffee, soft drinks and chocolate, unless they are decaffeinated. Also stay away from cigarettes and alcohol, as both contribute to preventing hormones from allowing body growth.
