What happens at the age of 9 with Puberty?
At the age of 9, most children have not yet reached puberty. Puberty typically begins between the ages of 10 and 14 in girls and 12 and 16 in boys, although there is a wide range of normal.
However, some children may begin to experience early signs of puberty at the age of 9. These signs can include:
In girls:
- Breast development
- Pubic hair growth
- Menstrual cramps
- Acne
- Increased height growth
- Body odor
In boys:
- Enlargement of the testicles and penis
- Pubic hair growth
- Voice deepening
- Acne
- Increased height growth
- Body odor
If you are concerned that your child may be starting puberty early, it is important to talk to a doctor. They can assess your child's stage of development and determine if any treatment is necessary.
