Eyesight Games

Eyesight games are designed to improve your vision and strengthen your eye muscles. Eyesight games should be administered by a doctor or physician to make sure you are performing them properly. While many eyesight exercises can be turned into games to entertain and amuse you or your children, they must be performed on a regular basis to be effective. Eyesight games range from long-distance reading games to rapid motion games.
  1. Peripheral Vision Game

    • The peripheral vision game is designed to improve your peripheral vision. Stand up straight with your knees slightly bent and arms at your sides. Extend your arms out and away from your body and hold them at shoulder height. Have a friend stand a few feet away from you with a tape measure. Slowly start moving your arms in towards your body. Stop this motion as soon as you catch site of both of your arms. Hold this position and have your friend measure your new arm angle. Switch with your friend and measure to see who had a slighter angle.

    Pencil Distance Game

    • The pencil distance game will help your eyes adjust to changing distances. Stand up straight with your knees slightly bent and a pencil in your dominant hand. Hold the pencil at a height even with your eyes, about an arm's length away. After focusing on the tip of the pencil, quickly bring the pencil half the distance between your eyes and where your arm just was. As soon as you focus on this position, move the arm back out to a point further away from your eyes. Repeat this exercise until your eyes are fatigued.

    Palming Game

    • The goal of the palming game is to relax your eye muscles without allowing any light to enter through your palms. Stand up straight with your knees slightly bent and arms at your sides. Take your hands and place them in a cupped position over both of your eyes. Keep your eyes closed and your palms tight over your eyes and hold this position for several minutes. Remove your hands and let your eyes adjust to the light. Repeat this exercise until your eyes are fatigued.

    Basic Eye Chart Game

    • This basic eyesight game will improve your vision through repetition and competition. Take a Snellen eye chart and place it against a wall at the same height as your eyes. Mark a specific distance from the chart and stand at this position. Try and read off as many letters as you can. If you get them all right, take two steps back and repeat the exercise. Play with your friends to see who can get the most letters right.
