Places for Out of Control Kids in Nebraska
Coping with an out-of-control child or adolescent can be overwhelming for parents and caregivers. It is often difficult for parents to address severe behavioral problems the youth displays. They love their child but cannot live with the destructive and defiant behavior. Intensive services are often necessary to treat these behaviors. There are programs in Nebraska that are designed to address such problems.-
Child Guidance Center

Child Guidance Center (child-guidance.org) is located in Lincoln, Nebraska, and serves people ages 1 to 19. The center offers outpatient therapy, extended day services, a sexual misconduct program, residential treatment and an in-school program. The extended day program is offered for children ages 5 to 11 who are at risk for out-of-home placement. This program takes place after school and during the summer. The residential treatment program is for males who have displayed inappropriate sexual behaviors. Day treatment services are available, during which youth may receive services during the day and return home in the afternoon. Drug and alcohol programming is also available.
Omaha Home for Boys

The Omaha Home for Boys (omahahomeforboys.org) offers a residential treatment program for males ages 10 to 18 who have demonstrated behavioral problems in less structured environments. Youth enrolled in the program must commit to a yearlong stay. They attend the public school system in Omaha and participate in school activities. Placement is in a cottage setting with houseparents who serve as caregivers and counselors.
Uta Halee Girls Village

Girls enrolled in residential treatment at Uta Halee Girls Village in Omaha must be 12 to 18 years old and have demonstrated emotional, mental-health or substance-abuse problems. The Psychiatric Residential Treatment Center is housed in a cottage and is designed for youth who require continuity of care. The Enhanced Treatment Group Home provides community-based, family-centered services and teaches a variety of skills, including problem-solving and educational and vocational planning.
Northeast Nebraska Juvenile Services Center

The Northeast Nebraska Juvenile Services Center is located in Madison. It is a juvenile detention center serving 13 counties. The program houses youth who are committed to placement following conviction for violent or multiple nonviolent crimes. The center offers residents educational services as well as a behavioral program that rewards youth for positive behavior by giving them the opportunity to earn privileges. Youth also have the opportunity to meet and learn from community members who discuss careers, health issues, money management and other topics.
