Hair Drug Test Vs. Urine

There are many different methods that can be used to detect the use of drugs. Some methods are extremely expensive while others are relatively cheap. Hair and urine testing have become the most popular methods in recent years.

Urine Testing

• Urine drug testing is the simplest and least expensive drug testing technique. This technique is very accurate and can be used in the comfort of one's own home.

Disadvantages

• While urine testing is very inexpensive and reliable, there are certain ways in which the results can be foiled. Urine testing also does not test for drugs that have been taken close to the time that the test was administered.

Hair Testing

• Hair testing has recently become a popular method in drug testing. Hair testing is thought to be a less intrusive method and can detect drugs that have been taken as long as six months in the past.

Function

• Hair testing is thought to be more accurate in mapping out a persons pattern of drug usage. Since it can detect drugs from a much longer time ago than urine tests, it helps to show just when a person was using drugs.

Disadvantages

• Hair testing is much more expensive than urine testing, and can cost up to $150. Hair tests also require a large sample of hair to obtain an accurate result.
