Why should a woman not wear deodorant or lotion during mammogram?
Deodorant and lotion don't interfere with mammography. While some antiperspirants have ingredients that show on screening as calcium deposits, it does not create a problem in interpreting screening for the trained eye of a Radiologist. Therefore there is no medical reason to ask patients to avoid deodorant. Even so, some imaging sites continue to request that patient avoid lotion and deodorant just in case a patient comes in with something different or new on the market that could potentially confuse imaging.
