How to Make Your Own Washable Maxi Pad Liner
Instead of purchasing manufactured tampons and menstrual pads, you can make your own handmade, washable maxi pad liners. A maxi pad liner is the material that you insert into a cloth pad. During your menstruation, you can wear the same cloth pad all day and just change the maxi pad liner. By making your own reusable menstrual products, you can help the environment, since your products will not add to garbage landfills.Things You'll Need

1
Purchase pre-cut fabric squares that are 12 inches by 12 inches from a fabric store. You can pick patterned or solid color fabrics, but make sure that the fabrics are natural fiber materials, such as 100% cotton or flannel.
-
2
Purchase half a yard of white cotton terrycloth from a fabric store.
-
3
Machine wash and dry your fabric squares and terrycloth, before you start working with it.
-
4
Draw a long oval shape on a piece of thin cardboard that measures seven inches in length and two inches in width.
-
5
Cut out your maxi liner pattern from the cardboard.
-
6
Fold a fabric square in half and lay it on a table.
-
7
Place your cardboard maxi liner pattern on top of the fabric and use a marker or a pencil to outline the pattern.
-
8
Cut out the maxi liner fabric pattern. You should have two identical fabric patterns.
-
9
Lay your piece of terrycloth on a table and trace the cardboard maxi liner pattern on it.
-
10
Cut out the liner shape, making sure to cut a quarter of an inch inside the outline. You want the terry cloth pattern to be slightly smaller than the fabric pattern.
-
11
Take your terrycloth liner and place it between the two fabric patterns. The inner sides of the fabric patterns should touch the terrycloth.
-
12
Use a sewing machine to stitch your maxi liner together. On one side of the joined material, stitch around the entire perimeter about a quarter inch from the edge.
-
13
Cut any excess threads hanging from your maxi liner after you are finished sewing.
