The Best Way to Lose Fat From Your Arms

Women, in particular, are often plagued with heavy arms that lack tone and result in what some refer to as "bat wings." The underarm area jiggles and doesn't look attractive, which forces many women to stop wearing sleeveless clothing, even when the temperature is 90 degrees F outside. Losing arm fat is difficult because the arms have a lot of fat cells, and it takes time for the fat to shift to other areas of the body. For best results, try to lose weight while you are doing arm exercises to lose fat.

Work your triceps, the area of the arm that is problematic for many. Triceps, which are located at the back of the arm, can become flabby. If you do not exercise them, they can develop stubborn fat and flab as you get older. Do triceps dips. Sit on the floor with your legs bent, your feet on the floor and your hands positioned palms down on the floor and slightly behind you, with your fingertips facing toward your body (not away from the body). Raise up your body, supporting yourself with your feet and the palms of your hands. Lower your body back to the seated position. Repeat this 10 times. Your arms should be straight but your elbows should not be locked when you are in the raised position. Your triceps will get a good workout, and this will tone up your arms and help reduce the fat that has collected in this area.

Perform arm curls. Use 3- or 5-lb. hand weights. Holding a weight in each hand while standing or sitting, bend your arms at the elbows, bringing the weights toward your chest. Then release the curl. Repeat 10 times. This works the backs of your arms as well as the biceps, which are the front areas of the upper arms.

Hold weights in each hand and stand with your feet about hip-width apart. Your arms should hang naturally down at your sides. The palms of your hands, in which you are holding the weights, should face your thighs. Lift your arms out to the sides. Do not raise up your shoulders in the process. Rotate your arms so that your palms are facing the ceiling. Hold this position for a few seconds. Rotate your arms back so the palms are facing the floor. Once again, hold this position for a few seconds. Lower your arms to your sides and repeat the exercise 10 times. This is considered a twisted raise and is a good workout for both the biceps and the triceps.
