How to Build Self Confidence in Women

Self-confidence is a personal belief in your ability to accomplish goals and objectives. This is an internal feeling that can be created and built only by you and no one else. External sources can provide you with skills to help build your self-confidence. Ultimately, you must take these skills and apply them to your life.

Instructions

    • 1

Be responsible for yourself. This means realizing you have the power to implement change in your life. No one else can change your self-confidence or the things occurring in your life but you.

    • 2

Take care of your personal appearance. Your personal appearance is an outward reflection of what you may feel inside. Start building your self-confidence by dressing nicely, maintaining good posture and exercising.

    • 3

Create an action plan. An action plan is a list of steps to take to change a particular area in your life. For example, if you want to start exercising, write down your plan on how you will do so. The first day you can take a 20-minute walk; the second day you can take a 25-minute walk. Continue with these steps until you have reached a goal (for example, running a 5K). Proceed with each step and your self-confidence will increase as you realize you are making changes.

    • 4

Change your behavior. Even if you don't feel confident, act as though you are. The more you act as though you are confident, the more confident you will feel. For example, don't slouch when you walk. Hold your head high, shoulders back. This stance alone makes you look confident.

    • 5

Establish a relationship with a mentor. Find someone who is confident in her behavior and can share some insight into the skills she uses to build and maintain her self-confidence. This could be a female superior at your job or another mother you admire at your child's school. Find someone you are comfortable talking with and address your concerns with her.

Display a positive attitude. Being positive includes complimenting others, which often leads to becoming liked by others. In the process your self-confidence will grow because you have a positive attitude about yourself and positive feedback from others.
