How to Find an ObGyn
Given the personal nature of obstetrics and gynecology it's important you find someone who is a good match. To make the most of your ObGyn visits you should feel comfortable asking your doctor questions of a sexual or personal nature. Keep in mind that the right doctor might not be the first one you meet. Consider both your sense of comfort and the doctor's experience with any relevant special conditions before making a final decision.Instructions

1
Use the membership directory from the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to find the doctors in your geographic area. Go to the homepage and click on "membership" in the top menu bar. A drop down menu will appear, select "find an ObGyn" and accept the terms and conditions.

2
Click on your state and select the closest city. The member doctors will appear along with their level of membership, typically determined by their years affiliated with the congress and the number of years in practice.

3
Scroll down your list, which might be quite long if you live in a populated area. Consider what factors are important to you. Decide if you have a gender or age preference and if so, how far you are willing to drive to find a doctor who meets those requirements.

4
Meet with two or three doctors to see who you feel the most comfortable with. Ask lots of questions and look for a doctor who does the same.
-
5
Ask your friends and co-workers about their ObGyns and why they like her. Never make a medical decision based solely on the opinions of your neighbors and friends, but pay attention if they recount a negative experience.
