Missouri Income Requirements for Medicaid for Pregnant Women

Missouri HealthNet Managed Care is a state health insurance program designed for low-income pregnant women and their newborn children. The program is designed to ensure that pregnant women and their newborn babies receive the heath care they need for optimum health and successful pregnancies. Applicants who wish to participate in the program must show they meet certain qualifying criteria.
  1. Pregnancy

    • A woman must be diagnosed as pregnant by a qualifying physician.

Women who participate in the Missouri HealthNet Managed Care program must be diagnosed as pregnant by a qualifying physician or health care provider. Once proof of pregnancy is provided, along with other qualifying criteria, the mother will be able to obtain full medical care throughout her pregnancy and immediately following the birth of her child.

    Income Limits

    • A woman's family income must not exceed 185% of the federal poverty level.

Pregnant women who participate in the Missouri HealthNet Managed Care program must meet income requirements. In order to qualify, a woman's family income must not exceed 185% of the federal poverty level. Coverage will continue for a period of no more than six weeks after the birth of the child as long as there are no extenuating complications. If additional coverage is needed, coverage may be extended as long as the family income of the mother continues to stay below the income limit.

    Children

    • Newborns are automatically qualified for coverage.

Newborn children of participating mothers are automatically qualified for coverage at birth. Coverage may continue to age 18 if the infant's family income does not exceed 185% of the federal poverty level.
