How Can I Get Pregnant Right Now?
If you have decided to have a baby, you may be excited and eager to get pregnant right way. Knowing when you ovulate may dramatically improve your chances of becoming a parent quickly. With this knowledge in mind, you can time sexual intercourse to make pregnancy much more likely.-
Stop Birth Control
-
If you're sure you're ready to conceive, stop using birth control. If you are using condoms, birth control pills, a diagram--a bowl-shaped device that blocks sperm, or spermicides, you may be able to get pregnant right away or soon after you stop using your chosen method. If you are using a long-term method, such as Depo Provera--injectable birth control that lasts for about three months, you'll need to wait until it wears off completely.
Ovulation
-
Your chances of conceiving right away may be better if you can determine when you ovulate. According to the Mayo Clinic, this may be about 14 days after the last day of your menstrual period, in a 28-day cycle. However, the exact number of days can differ from woman to woman and from cycle to cycle. To get a better idea of when you are likely to ovulate, consider purchasing an ovulation predictor kit--a test that measures a hormone surge that occurs close to ovulation.
You can also use the appearance and feel of your cervical mucus to help you gauge whether or not you are close to ovulating. You can check your cervical mucus--mucus produced by cells in the lining of the cervix--by placing a clean finger into your vagina to pull put some out. Clear cervical mucus that appears stretchy may be a sign that you are ovulating and ready to get pregnant right now or have recently ovulated and may still have a chance of getting pregnant.
Sexual Intercourse
-
Have sex frequently, especially on and around the day you're ovulating. If you have sexual intercourse regularly, you have a better chance of getting pregnant than if you have sex occasionally, as you are more likely to have sperm in your body at the time of ovulation. Have sexual intercourse a couple of days before you think you may ovulate, the day you think you will ovulate and a couple of days after you have ovulated. This will give you a better chance of getting pregnant, even if you've slightly miscalculated your ovulation date.
According to Parents.com, it may help to recline on your back after sexual intercourse, as this allows the sperm to collect there and may help the them to have an easier time traveling to your egg.
