How to Ride a Bike With the Diva Cup

Exercise and fun activities should not be put on hold while a woman is menstruating. The use of tampons and the DivaCup have helped women feel more freedom when attempting outdoor activities while on their period. There is little to no difference between using a tampon or a DivaCup while exercising or riding a bike.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash your hands. Moisten the rim of the DivaCup with water or a non-petroleum-based personal lubricant.

    • 2

Press the cup in half with your fingers. Fold it in half again.

    • 3

Relax your vaginal muscles. Separate the labia with your hand and push the edge of the folded cup into your vaginal opening. No part should be sticking out and it should not be any higher than a tampon when inserted correctly.

    • 4

Use your finger to test the edges of the DivaCup to make sure that they are suctioned to the walls of your vagina. When inserted properly, you should not feel anything.

    • 5

Ride a bike as you would if not on your period. You should not need to empty or remove the DivaCup any more than normal for your body.

    • 6

Remove the cup by gently inserting your fingers into your vagina. Run your finger along the edge to remove the suction from the walls of the vagina. Slowly pull the cup out and dump the blood into the toilet. Wash the cup with water and re-insert, if still menstruating.
