Pre Menopause Test
Pre menopause or more correctly perimenopause is the period of time before a woman actually begins menopause. A self-administered test can give you a clue as to whether you may be in perimenopause.-
FSH
-
Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) is created in the pituitary gland and is responsible for stimulating the ovaries to produce eggs. The levels of FSH fall during menopause.
Home-based Test
-
A urine test, similar to a home-based pregnancy test, is used to measure the level of FSH in the urine. Placing a few drops of urine on the device, holding the device in the urine stream or dipping it into a container of urine generates a color-coded result.
Results
-
The test kit will explain how to interpret the results and determine if FSH levels are normal, high or low.
Other Symptoms
-
Other symptoms that may help confirm the occurrence of perimenopause are mood swings, night sweats, weight gain, hair loss and lackluster hair.
See Your Doctor
-
The test alone is not indicative of menopause. However, a low level of FSH combined with any of the other symptoms listed above are good indicators that you may be in perimenopause or even menopause that can be more accurately determined b your doctor.
