How to Eliminate Wrinkles

Eliminating wrinkles is a lot easier today than any other time in history. Prescription and over-the-counter wrinkle creams can be used to soften and plump up fine lines around the eyes, forehead and mouth. Non-invasive procedures like Botox and Restylane injections are excellent options for people who are not willing to undergo surgical treatments like face lifts. The choices available today allow people to maintain a youthful look well into their more mature years.

Instructions

  1. Topical Creams

    • 1

Use a prescription retinoid cream obtained from your dermatologist. If you want a milder treatment, purchase an over-the-counter wrinkle cream that contains wrinkle-fighting ingredients like Q10 enzyme, retinol, alpha hydroxy acids and copper peptides. These are the active ingredients found in most topical treatments. Don't be fooled by price; expensive does not necessarily equal better.

    • 2

Remove any and all makeup and wash face with a mild cleanser. Pat dry.

    • 3

Gently massage the cream into the problem areas.

    • 4

Apply sunscreen containing an SPF of 15 or more. If you are using a prescription retinoid, you must use sunscreen as the treatment will make your skin more sensitive to UV rays.

    • 5

Put on makeup or moisturizer after applying the wrinkle cream.

    Cosmetic Procedures

    • 6

Try Botox. Over the past several years Botox has become one of the most popular wrinkle-removing treatments. It involves injecting botulinum toxin type A into the facial muscles to smooth out wrinkles.

    • 7

Get Restylane or Juvederm injections. These are also known as soft filler injections. When injected, they plump out deep creases.

    • 8

Try dermabrasion. This procedure involves using a rotating brush to "sand down" the skin, giving it a much smoother appearance overall. It may take a few months after the initial procedure to notice the actual results.

    • 9

Get a chemical peel. In this case, chemicals are applied to the skin to destroy the damaged, wrinkly outer layer and allow new, healthy skin to form and take its place. The new skin is less wrinkled than the previous layer.
