What Do High Hormone Levels in Women Mean?

Whether or not high hormone levels in women are beneficial or detrimental to their long-term health remains debatable. Researchers continue to probe the health effects of hormone levels. While they have not yet solved the debate, they have produced some startling findings.
  1. Promiscuity

    • Research at the University of Texas found that women with high hormone levels changed sexual partners more often than their counterparts.

    Infidelity

    • High estrogen levels made women more likely to have more than one sex partner at a time.

    Self-Image

    • An evolutionary psychologist at the University of Texas, Kristina Durante, reported that results from her study on women with high hormone levels showed that these women considered themselves more attractive.

    Infertility

    • Researchers believe that high levels of estrogen can compromise a woman's ability to conceive. It was found to cause poor ovulation, inhibit the woman's response to fertility drugs and hinder a woman's chances of becoming pregnant with in vitro fertilization.

    Pregnancy

    • Women with high estrogen levels had lower rates of pregnancy than their counterparts.
