How to Treat Recurrent Vaginosis
Recurrent vaginosis is a problem for many women and is in fact the most common culprit of vaginal infections. Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is an infection caused by an imbalance of bacteria within the vagina. Women (and men) normally have many different bacteria living within their bodies naturally. We depend on these bacteria to make our systems work properly and they only become a problem when something offsets the balance. Here are some ways to treat recurrent vaginosis infections:

The first step is to visit your obgyn. They will perform an examination to make sure that the symptoms you are suffering from are in fact caused by bacterial vaginosis. There are plenty of other medical conditions which mimic the symptoms of BV such as various STDs and other vaginitis conditions, so it's important to be sure.

Next you want to decide whether or not antibiotic therapy is the right choice. Many women would rather not take antibiotics unless absolutely necessary - and for good reason. Taking antibiotics on a regular basis for recurrent vaginosis can actually cause the bacteria responsible to become resistant to the medication.

Another way to combat chronic BV is to use alternative homeopathic remedies. These treatment methods include applying different solutions directly on the affected area. One natural remedy includes tea tree oil. This oil can be purchased at a local health food store, pharmacy, or online. Tea tree oil fights off the vaginal bacteria and can be applied full strength or diluted with water. Applying hydrogen peroxide also helps to treat recurrent vaginosis for some women.
