Learning the answers to some basic health questions will help you be prepared for illnesses and conditions that may affect you or your loved ones. While the basics are not intended to be all-inclusive, they are a good jumping off point.-

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease that's caused by bacteria. It progresses through different stages. While it is easy to cure in its earliest stages, if left untreated, it can cause organ damage or death.
What is Pelvic Inflammatory Disease?

Pelvic inflammatory disease is an infection that occurs in a woman's pelvic organs. These organs include the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries and other reproductive organs.
What is an Autoimmune Disease?

An autoimmune disease causes the body to mistakenly attack its own immune system, which can cause illness. It can affect connective tissue, as well as nerves and muscles, and your digestive and endocrine systems.
What Are the Different Types of Skin Cancer?

The three types of skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. Basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell usually occur on skin that has been exposed to the sun, but squamous cell carcinoma can also appear on unexposed skin, and can spread to other organs. Melanoma is the most serious, but less common, type and can spread to other parts of the body if not caught and treated early.
What Are the Signs of a Stroke?

Sudden numbness of the leg, arm or face, primarily on one side of the body, decreased or lost vision in one or both eyes, loss of coordination, confusion and difficulty speaking are all signs of a stroke. In addition, women may experience sudden chest pain, hiccups, nausea, fatigue, changes in heartbeat and other symptoms.

Interstitial cystitis is a bladder problem that is considered chronic. Inflammation and irritation of the bladder can occur, which can cause the bladder to scar and prevent it from holding as much urine as it should. Additionally, there may also be bleeding.
What is Osteoporosis?

Weakening of the bones caused by loss of calcium is called osteoporosis. Menopausal women are more prone to osteoporosis, but it can affect anyone with insufficient calcium levels. Osteoporosis causes bones to break easier.
What is Insomnia?

Insomnia is getting too little sleep, or the wrong kind of sleep (non-restorative sleep).
