Instructions

    • 1

Wipe from front to back when using the bathroom. When you wipe from the back to the front you are more likely to introduce bacteria from your anal area into your urethra. This bacteria can cause cystitis.

    • 2

Keep yourself hydrated by drinking water throughout the day. Water can help you void more often, thus keeping the bacteria from sitting in your bladder and causing infection.

    • 3

Shower instead of bathing. Sitting in a bathtub increases your chances of introducing infection-causing bacteria into your urethra.

    • 4

Cleanse the genitals and anal area daily and rinse thoroughly before patting dry. After cleansing wear clean undergarments.

    • 5

Urinate when you feel the urge. Don't hold your water. Cystitis occurs when bacteria sits in the bladder, giving it a chance to multiply and cause infection. Voiding frequently lessens your chances of recurrent cystitis.

    • 6

Urinate immediately after having intercourse. It is helpful to drink a glass of water to cleanse the bacteria from your bladder.
