1
Select an accommodating space. Choose a low-traffic section of the room, one that will allow you to stretch in all directions. Find a spot that will be filled with natural light at the time you plan to practice yoga. Consider ventilation and proximity to residual odors. Pick a place with fresh air if possible. Remember to pick the best flooring for your needs, whether carpet or a hard surface. Make sure it is level to avoid injury.

2
Clean the space. Move furniture or appliances as necessary. Remove clutter that will distract you from yoga, such as paperwork.
-
3
Set up media equipment for the yoga space. Place a DVD player or computer that you use to watch videos within viewing distance of a standing and seated position. Position the MP3 or CD player within listening distance.
-
4
Position your yoga mat on the floor. Understand that it will be easier to move the mat to within viewing or listening distance of the media equipment rather than the equipment itself.
-
5
Apply scents to the yoga space. Light your favorite candle or spray essential oil to provide a more tranquil atmosphere.
-
6
Decorate the yoga space. Create a meaningful environment with symbolic items, such as pictures, sculptures or totems. Add a fountain or plants to help energize the space.
