See your doctor. If you are not currently on birth control pills. You will need a complete well-woman examination. After the exam, speak with your doctor about birth control options and ask to be put on the pill.

Purchase the prescription.

Read the instructions. Normally you would take your birth control pills for a certain number of days and then you would take placebo pills until you start back on the actual pill. While taking the placebo pills, you have your period.

Take the birth control pills as prescribed during the monthly cycle.

Open your second month's supply of pills. Start taking the new pack of birth control pills on the day you that you would normally begin taking the placebos. If you take your pills during the week that you would normally take placebos, you should not have your period.
