How to Make Your Period Shorter

Many women dread getting their period each month. Some may experience cramps so bad that it may keep them in bed while others get migranes, dizziness or just general discomfort. Every woman's menstrual cycle is different from the next and the ways to shorten the length can be different from one woman to the next. You can use birth control pills to affect your menstrual cycle, but always speak with a physician first.

      Talk to your doctor about getting a prescription for birth control pills. Some types can make your cycles shorter, lighter, and perhaps even lessen any cramps that you may have.

      Exercise more if you are able. If you have cramping, exercise can actually make you feel better and also shorten the time that you have your period. Try jogging, walking or aerobics to get your body moving. You will be focused on exercising instead of the cramping going on.

      If you are already on birth control, skip the placebo pills in your package of pills. This will often stall your period and may cause you to skip it for the month. However, sometimes this can also cause spotting. Discuss with your doctor about taking your birth controls continuously and she may prescribe a different type of pill for this to take place.
