How to Stand Up While Weaving

It can take hours to sew or glue in a weave. Some hairstylists who are charged with this task find it difficult to work on their feet for this long. Standing while working can cause foot, back, shoulder and leg pain. You can even experience discomfort in your hands from repeating the same finger and hand motions required to complete the hairstyle. When standing up to weave, there are several things that you should do to take care of your body.

Instructions

Position the customer so that the top of her head is as high as your chest. Tap the lever to move the customer higher or lower in an adjustable shop chair. When working at home, use an adjustable desk chair. This will prevent you from having to bend over too often when working on her weave.

Wear comfortable shoes when working on your feet. Many stylists are "stylish" and wear heels and other shoes that don't contribute to their comfort level. According to WebMD, nearly half of women wear shoes that are uncomfortable. Wearing comfortable tennis shoes or padded, flat shoes while standing up to weave will help your feet and back. Avoid wearing narrow shoes or heels.

    • 3

Place orthotic insoles in your shoes. Even when wearing tennis shoes, orthotic insoles will help relieve pressure points on the soles of your feet. This is especially important when wearing heels. Buy orthotic insoles that are specially designed for heeled shoes.

Change shoes often to alleviate foot pain while standing up. Don't wear the same pair of shoes for more than two days. Each pair of shoes has its own set of pressure points, so switching the shoes will shift these pressure points and alleviate fatigue and foot pain.

Take breaks while working on the weave. Weaving can take hours. Every hour or so, take a short break and stretch your body. Don't forget to stretch your fingers and rotate your wrists because your hands are doing the majority of the weaving work.

Sit down for a few minutes every hour. Alternating between standing and sitting will provide relief for your legs. Encourage your customer to stand and stretch.
