Problems With Thong Underwear
In today's Victoria's Secret-ruled world of undergarment style, skimpy thongs are in while panty lines are out. Sure, barely-there lacy lingerie may be the glorified panty of femininity these days, but could your sexy underwear lead to some very unsexy health problems? According to some gynecologists, they sure can.-
Bladder Infections
-
Of the various health issues that thong wearers might experience, bladder and urinary tract infections are among the most serious. Dr. Manny of Fox News reports, "there are many kinds of bacteria lurking in the vagina and around the anus [and] the female urethra is very short. So the presence of that thin strip of fabric in this area could increase the likelihood of bacteria exchange into the female bladder."
Vaginal Infections
-
The skinny string the thong is famous for also acts as somewhat of a germ highway, providing a route for bacteria to travel around your nether regions. When bacteria from the anus makes its way to the vaginal area -- a place where it certainly does not belong -- infection is a likely outcome.
Chafing and Irritation
-
The chafing and skin irritation that occurs while wearing thong underwear is another medical setback. Not only is the chafing uncomfortable, but the constant irritation could lead to inflammation, leaving the skin raw and open to infection.
Hemorrhoids
-
Anal inflammation can also result in hemorrhoids, as they are caused by the swelling of rectal veins. When hemorrhoids can cause bleeding, swelling, or even a hard lump around the anus, wearing sexy, butt-baring underwear would probably be the last thing you would want to do.
