How to Fade a Tan

Tanning is the expression used to describe coloring of the skin, either naturally, through exposure to ultraviolet light, or through the use of products such as spray tans which contain chemicals that darken the skin in order to produce a "natural" tan color. Whether you've got embarrassing tan lines or your just want your natural complexion back, there are times when having a tan isn't as good as it sounds. Natural and fake tans only color the top layer of skin, so removing or fading a tan is fairly easy.

Check your diet. Your skin needs nutrients to refresh itself, so try and eat plenty of salmon, dark green vegetables, nuts, eggs and chicken to ensure your skin is as healthy as possible. This will encourage it to refresh itself faster.

    • 2

Drink plenty of water. Dehydration is the main cause of skin delaying refreshing, which will make your tan last longer and your skin look older.

    • 3

Use an exfoliating brush and coarse body scrub in the shower. This will remove old skin and cleanse, fading your tan. Doing this daily as part of your washing routine will significantly speed up the generation of new skin and fade your tan.

    • 4

Apply a fruit oil-based moisturizer and concealer every day. The fruit oil will help to remove your tan, while the moisturizer keeps your skin looking hydrated and glowing.

    • 5

Mix lemon juice and honey together to make an exfoliator, and use twice a day. This natural mixture is soft on the skin, while also being a strong cleanser, refreshing skin fast. Leave the mixture on your skin for two to three minutes, and wash off with a washcloth. Do this alongside exfoliating in the shower if possible, as it will speed up the fading process and keep your skin in good condition.

    • 6

Apply milk, slices of potato or slices of cucumber to your skin, and leave for five to 10 minutes. These are natural products that will metabolize the skin and increase its refresh rate.

Wear dark clothes while you are waiting for your tan to fade. These will make your tan less noticeable, whilst also being stylish.
