Crinone Side Effects

Crinone (progesterone gel) is a medication used to treat infertility in women who have hormone deficiency or menstrual problems. Crinone is applied to the vagina using a special applicator tip.
  1. Genital/Urinary Tract

    • The most common genital related side effect is breast tenderness (27 percent). Vaginal dryness (6 percent), vaginal discharge (10 percent) problems urinating (11 percent), and urinary tract infections, or UTI (2 percent) have also been reported by Drug Information Online.

    Central Nervous System

    • According to Drug Information Online, some patients have reported headache (31 percent) and dizziness (15 percent). Other neurological side effects include confusion, tremor and nervousness.

    Cardiovascular

    Gastrointestinal

    • The most common gastrointestinal side effect reported is abdominal pain, which occurs in roughly 20 percent of women taking Crinone. Other side effects include diarrhea, constipation, and nausea (8 percent).

    Joint Pain

    • As reported to Drug Information Online, twenty percent of women taking Crinone report joint pain and other musculoskeletal problems, such as back pain and leg cramps.

    Depression
