A typical pharmacy has thousands of medications to stock and shelf every day. This is also part of the technician's job. Most pharmacies have computerized inventories of all their medication that must be maintained and tracked. This may also include counting the pills in the bottles.

The job of a pharmacy technician is not limited to just local pharmacies. Most hospitals have pharmacies located on their campus (especially bigger cities). Doctors' offices may even have small pharmacies on-site as well. Certain health and wellness stores also employ pharmacy technicians.
