Uses of Starter Solenoid

A starter solenoid, sometimes also referred to as a starter relay, is an essential hardware component found in all cars and other vehicles. The starter solenoid is responsible for aiding in the ignition of a vehicle,and may perform other duties as well, depending on the make and model. Relay Electricity

• The starter solenoid is closely related to a vehicle's starter and is responsible for transmitting electrical current from the vehicle's battery to the starter, which then starts the engine.

Deactivate Starter

• The starter is an electrical component that spins rapidly to start the engine. Once the engine starts, the driver releases the key. When the key is released, the starter solenoid is responsible for pulling the pinion away from the ring, which causes the starter to stop spinning.

Engage Ring Gear

• The starter solenoid pushes the pinion forward when the key is turned to start the car. The pinion engages the ring gear, which then turns the flywheel to turn the engine.
