  1. How to Add a Seat to a Walker

    • 1

Measure the length and width of the seating space of the chair using the measuring tape.

    • 2

Cut the foam to these measurements, using the scissors. Set the foam aside.

    • 3

Lay the fabric flat on the table, with the external side touching the table. Choose the fabric of your choice, keeping in mind it should be sturdy enough to last over time.

    • 4

Place the foam on the fabric. Wrap the fabric around the seat, so it fits tightly around the foam and covers it. This should leave three open sides. Cut off the excess fabric, and sew the three open sides together using the needled and thread.

    • 5

Glue the metal bars length-wise along the bottom of the seat, using strong glue suitable for metal. The bars should extend 2 inches beyond the seat and be parallel to each other.

    • 6

Place the seat into the walker, wedging it in tightly to secure it. Test it first by gently sitting on it without your full body weight. Reinforce with more metal bars if needed.
