What degree do you need to be an emt?

EMTs (emergency medical technicians) typically need a high school diploma or equivalent and must complete an accredited EMT training program.

After completing the training, EMTs will need to pass the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) cognitive exam and a psychomotor exam. Many employers also require background checks and drug testing. Some EMTs choose to pursue additional education or certification, such as an associate degree in emergency medical services or becoming a paramedic.
