What was a coram hospital?

Coram Hospital was founded by Thomas Guy, a wealthy merchant, in 1729 in London. The hospital was originally known as the "New Hospital for Sick Children" and was dedicated to providing free care to sick children. It was the first hospital in the world dedicated solely to the care of children. The hospital was named after Thomas Coram, a philanthropist and social reformer who was instrumental in its establishment. Coram Hospital played a pioneering role in the development of pediatrics and was one of the first hospitals to offer specialized medical care for children. It also established the first training school for nurses dedicated to the care of children. The hospital continues to operate today, providing a wide range of medical services for children and young people.
