How to Use Rechargeable Batteries in Remote Telemetry

Telemetry requires proper connectivity between the monitoring apparatus and the receiver. A failure of either component could result in a devastating error -- this is why many telemetry devices use electrical outlets and not portable battery supplies. Since telemetry involves recording the readings of an instrument and transmitting them by radio, a loss of power could invalidate the entire process and force you to start over. Learn how to properly use rechargeable batteries in your telemetry equipment to enhance the systems portability without sacrificing efficiency.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the battery charger into a designated electrical outlet, then insert the first cell. Allow the battery enough time to reach a peak charge.

    • 2

Remove the stock battery from the telemetry device by loosening the screw on the back of the equipment and opening the battery compartment. Install the fully charged battery pack.

    • 3

Turn on the equipment and use it as normal.

    • 4

Insert the second battery pack into the charger, then allow it time to reach a peak charge. Replace the battery in the telemetry device when it begins to get low. Circulate the two batteries between the equipment and the charger to ensure that it is always working properly.
