1
Clean the mask before the first use. Remove the headgear from the mask and hand wash both with mild dish detergent and warm water. Rinse thoroughly with water and allow to air dry away from direct sunlight. Inspect all parts for damage.
-
2
Adjust the mask to fit your patient's face comfortably. Hold the mask gently against the patient's face. Slide the strap over his head and adjust the strap length by using the tabs.
-
3
Connect the tubing to the mask. Attach the flexible tubing from the continuous positive airway pressure device to the swivel elbow on the bottom of the mask. Turn on your continuous positive airway pressure device.
-
4
Instruct your patient to lie down and breathe through the nose while the lips are closed. Gradually tighten the straps on the mask until it fits comfortable on the patient's face. Ensure the mask has as few air leaks as possible.
-
5
Remove the mask by sliding the mask and the head strap over the patient's head. It is unnecessary to unfasten the straps to remove the mask unless it is uncomfortable for the patient to leave the straps fastened. If it is more comfortable for the patient, gently unfasten the neck straps to remove the mask.
