Medical associations bring together physicians, medical students and other people of the medical society together in membership-based organizations. These associations help to empower members with leadership and education to advance in their craft while promoting knowledge and the advancement of care for the public.
  1. American Medical Association

    • Established in 1847 in Chicago, the American Medical Association is dedicated to provide help to doctors in providing the best of patient care. The AMA promotes a strategic plan involving the art and science of medicine to encompass health system reform.     American Medical Women's Association

    • Dr. Bertha Vanhoosen created the American Medical Women's Association in 1915 when discovering women physicians were a minority in the health profession. With members consisting of medical students and women physicians, the organization focuses on advocacy, education and leadership for women of medicine.

    American Podiatric Medical Association

    • Headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, the American Podiatric Medical Association brings information to the public concerning foot and ankle health. The APMA has represented podiatrists since its founding in 1912, with the organization having grown to 15,000 members and 53 state components throughout the United States, according to the American Podiatric Medical Association. APMA staff has dedicated themselves with providing professional excellence, member service and giving education concerning foot and ankle health.

    American Holistic Medical Association

    • The American Holistic Medical Association brings together physicians engaged in holistic medicine that consists of the promotion of healing through the body, mind and spirit. Founded in 1978 with its first meeting in Denver Colorado, the American Holistic Medical Association promotes fellowship between practitioners to spread the knowledge of holistic medicine.
